Department of Communication Arts Hosts Public Relations Celebration

VALDOSTA — Dr. Joseph Trahan, internationally recognized media trainer and crisis management expert, will present “How to Become a Super Hero Spokesperson During a Crisis” at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, at Valdosta State University. Admission is $25 for the public and $10 for students and includes lunch.

Trahan’s presentation is part of VSU’s Public Relations Celebration and is presented by VSU’s Department of Communication Arts and Public Relations Student Society of America, in collaboration with the South Georgia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. It is sponsored by Southeastern Credit Union, Wild Adventures, Big Nick’s, and Jekyll Island Club Resort.

Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the Suzannah Patterson Public Relations Student Travel Scholarship, which provides travel funds for students who attend professional and educational activities including conferences, meetings, and trainings.

The Public Relations Celebration will kick off at 9 a.m. with roundtable discussions. This is an opportunity for VSU students and community members to interact with area professionals and learn more about the public relations field.

Participants can register online at https://community.valdostastate.org/public-relations-celebration through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22. The morning roundtable discussions are free and open to the public. All events will be held in the Curriculum, Leadership, Technology, and Communication Arts Building, which is located at the corner of Patterson Street and Brookwood Drive.
