VSU Encourages Summer Fitness with USG Health Trails Challenge

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University Campus Wellness invites all faculty, staff members, and student workers to participate in the University System of Georgia’s Health Trails Challenge from June 19 to August 13.

“We are excited to join our sister institutions for this system-wide Health Trails Challenge,” said Kyle Culpepper, a member of VSU’s Campus Wellness Committee and instructional technology specialist in the New Media Center. “This is a great opportunity to focus on employee health and well-being.”

The program will allow participants to track steps, sleep, and acts of self-compassion on the Health Trails website or free mobile app. As they record activities, they will move along a virtual trail. Participants can compete individually or as a team. VSU will compete against all participating USG institutions.

To register, visit https://usgwellbeing.healthtrails.com. Faculty and staff members who participated in the inaugural Health Trails Challenge during the spring will need to re-register to participate. Participants can sync a Fitbit or Jawbone device to track their steps on the Health Trails app.

During the first Health Trails Challenge, 231 VSU participants tracked a total of 111,199.7 virtual miles. The spring challenge focused on steps, water consumption, and acts of kindness.
