VSU Presents Department of Art and Design Fall Senior Exhibition Nov. 17-Dec. 3

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University will celebrate the work of six graduating Department of Art and Design students when it presents “1,461 Days Later” in the Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery Nov. 17 through Dec. 3. Admission to the gallery is free of charge and open to the public.

An opening reception for “1,461 Days Later,” the 2019 Fall Senior Exhibition, will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the artists and discuss their works.

“1,461 Days Later” features drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, mixed media, ceramic, sculpture, and jewelry metalworking works created by Karley Hamm, Ashlyn Wilkerson, Alyssa McDonough, Karen Badillo, Nicole Hall, and Kelsi Canfield. All of the students are art majors who anticipate graduating with either a Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Arts in December.

“After many sleepless nights and studio-filled days, we have grown as artists and as individuals …,” event organizers shared. “ We may use similar methods to make our art, but our styles and inspirations are completely different. Movement, nature, technology, locations, and so many other things have inspired us to make the art we are presenting in this show. Our backgrounds may be as diverse as the beach and a farm, but we have come together for one purpose. It is finally our turn to show our work and show everyone what we as artists are capable of saying and doing.”

The Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery is located on the first floor of VSU’s Fine Arts Building, at the intersection of Oak Street and Brookwood Drive. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.
