Important Notice to Freshmen Applicants

First-year students applying to VSU for Summer and Fall 2020 may be admitted without an ACT/SAT score if they meet other established requirements for admission.

Valdosta State is adapting our admissions processes to adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to a more personalized, virtual approach for our applicants following the cancellation of testing services by the College Board and ACT. Students that have already applied are in the process of being contacted about the status of their application. For students that have not applied for the Summer or Fall 2020 terms, the application fee is being waived for the time being. Contact the Office of Admissions if you need assistance applying.

We understand this is an uncertain time for many people, however, at Valdosta State, we are determined to use this time to connect with our prospective students and their families. We look forward to speaking with them on the benefits a degree from VSU has to offer.

How to access the fee waiver:

Apply as normal and you won't be charged a fee. At the last page, the only option you'll see to pay the fee is "fee waiver." Select this and you're in!

If you have not taken the SAT or ACT

In light of the decision made by the College Board and ACT to suspend the availability of testing during the COVID‐19 virus pandemic, the University System of Georgia has approved alternate procedures for admitting students to the Summer and Fall 2020 Terms.

If have not taken these tests, we will use your High School Transcript in order to make an admissions decision. Please reach out to us at admissions@valdosta.edu if you are having trouble getting your high school transcript sent to the Admissions Office.

If you have taken the SAT or ACT

You may still submit your scores for evaluation in the admissions process. We encourage students to go ahead and submit any available scores for course placement purposes.

For those that have already applied and turned in test scores, we are currently working to re-evaluate our applications already on file. We will be reaching out to students with updates as decisions are made. If you would like an update on your file as it stands now, please reach out to admissions@valdosta.edu or your Admissions Counselor and we will update you.

To connect with your counselor for questions

For questions about this process or the standard processes for VSU admissions, please connect with your Admissions Counselor. Admissions Counselors are eager to set up virtual meetings with incoming and prospective students. Use this link to find your counselor, and then ask them to set up a virtual meeting with you. They are also available via phone and email.
