About The European Union Studies Certificate Program
The European Union Studies Program
The European Union (EU) Studies Program is a collaborative academic arrangement (CAA) between 9 University System of Georgia institutions, including VSU. Together, they offer a Certificate in EU Studies and online courses every semester on different EU topics.
The certificate in European Union Studies is operated under the supervision of the European Council of the University System of Georgia. The program is open to all institutions and students of the University System as well as to professionals with an undergraduate degree.
The Certificate in EU Studies
The Certificate in EU Studies is an academic credential that can supplement any major or degree. It signifies expertise on the European Union, which is a major global actor and America’s most important economic and political partner.
The EU Studies certificate consists of 5 courses that total a minimum of 15 semester hours of academic credit. To earn the certificate, students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in program courses upon completion of the program. An official certificate is awarded by VSU for satisfactory fulfillment of the curriculum, and the certificate is noted on the student’s permanent transcripts. Information on the EU Studies curriculum can be found here.
Students can earn the certificate by taking in-person or online courses dealing with the EU, or a combination of the two. See the VSU program representative for a list of in-person courses that can be used for the certificate.
Online Courses
The EU Studies Program offers several online courses, bearing the EURO prefix, each fall and spring semester, and the Introduction to the EU online course every summer.
