About This Program

Humans are interconnected with the environment and nearly every human activity influences the environment. Issues related to the changing climate and more broadly the environment are among the most pressing issues affecting the world and future generations. Urgency to address these issues is paramount due to accelerating human impacts. With the Environmental and Climate Sciences option, you will gain the scientific understanding required to comprehend and assess issues that are critical to the environmental and climate sciences. There is an increasing demand for individuals with this knowledge due to increasing economic and societal impacts related to climate change. Scientists must communicate environmental and climate information to decision-makers across the public sector, the private sector, and nongovernmental organizations. When you successfully complete this degree program, you are prepared to work for state or federal agencies, become employed in the private sector, or seek advanced degrees in related graduate programs.
