VSU Langdale Lecture Series continues with James McGahee

Valdosta State University's Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration announces a public invitation to attend The Harley Langdale, Jr. Lecture Series featuring Mr. James McGahee, Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of the South Georgia Medical Center. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Pound Hall Auditorium located on the Valdosta State University's Rea and Lillian Steele North Campus. In his lecture, titled ?A Job and a Career?, Mr. McGahee will talk about deciding on a career path and choosing an occupation within that career path.

Mr. McGahee holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and master's degree in finance from Valdosta State College. In July of 2000, he assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer at the South Georgia Medical Center, following eight years as the hospital's Chief Operating Officer and ten years as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to his employment with South Georgia Medical Center, McGahee was the Corporate Controller for the Scruggs Company, a highway contracting company. For the five years prior to that, he was a partner with Charlton L. Davis & Company, P.C., certified public accountants. Currently, McGahee is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Georgia Hospital Association, and is an associate member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. McGahee serves on the Valdosta State University Foundation Board of Trustees as well as the Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration Business Alumni Advisory Board.

The Harley Langdale, Jr. Lecture Series provides Valdosta State University business students and the public an opportunity to hear lectures on a wide range of business-related topics presented by experts in their related fields. This series of lectures is another step in the Langdale College of Business commitment to provide its students with high quality education by broadening their horizons and introducing them to real life experiences.
