Angela Willers Named VSU Division of Social Work Field Instructorof the Year
Valdosta State University's Division of Social Work named Angela
Willers, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) from
Thomasville, Georgia, the 2004 Outstanding Field Instructor of the
Year. The Division of Social Work honored Willers at the Master of
Social Work Hooding Ceremony on Friday, May 7, 2004.
Willers has served as a field instructor for the VSU Master of
Social Work (M.S.W.) Program since 1997. She has continuously
opened her space, time, and resources for VSU M.S.W. student
interns. Willers works at Archbold Northside where she has been an
Outpatient Psychotherapist since 1995.
?Mrs. Willers commitment to educating and training our students has
been exceptional,? said Allison Curington, director of Field
Instruction. ?In a society where service delivery requires more
cases, more paper work, and more attention to consumer needs, a
commitment to field education is an enormous task,? she
added.
The VSU M.S.W. Program graduated 16 students this year and is
looking forward to a record-breaking enrollment of over 100
students starting in the fall. Since the beginning, the Division of
Social Work at Valdosta State University has served South Georgia
by providing qualified graduates to work in area communities. To
date, more than 200 students have graduated from the M.S.W.
Program, and alumni surveys indicate that approximately 80 percent
of these Master of Social Work graduates reside in South
Georgia.
