VSU's Langdale College Student Receives Honor Society Scholarship
Whitney Hammock, a student at Valdosta State University's Harley
Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration, is a recipient of
a 2004 Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship.
Hammock was chosen to receive the $1,000 scholarship for her
superior performance in the study of business. Hammock, a resident
of Valdosta, Ga., can use the scholarship to continue her education
in 2004-05.
Since 1988, Beta Gamma Sigma, a worldwide honor society, and its
member deans have awarded nearly $800,000 in scholarships to
outstanding student members from across the country. The Society's
contributions have helped ?the best in business? reach their
academic and professional goals.
The mission of Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic
achievement in the study of business and to foster personal and
professional excellence among its members. Membership in Beta Gamma
Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere can
receive in an undergraduate or master's program at a school
accredited by AACSB International-The Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business.
To be eligible for membership, the academic ranking of those being
considered must place them in the upper seven percent of the junior
class, ten percent of the senior class, or 20 percent of the
graduation master's class. While almost 300,000 students receive
bachelor's or master's degrees in business each year, only about
20,000 students are elected to membership in Beta Gamma Sigma.
