Virginia Tech community honored at Wednesday ceremony
VALDOSTA - As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, several
organizations at Valdosta State University have organized an event
titled “Take Back the Night” that will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday,
April 18 on the VSU front lawn. While the event will spotlight
sexual violence, students, faculty and staff will also participate
in a moment of silence in honor of the lives lost during the
Virginia Tech tragedy.
During the campus march and candlelight vigil, taboo issues related
to sexual violence, STD’s, and legal issues, etc. will be discussed
and victims of sexual violence in our community and across the
nation will be honored. At various locations on Campus, there will
be stops and speakers along the March. Keynote speakers and
advocates from VSU and the community will be present.
