Heine Accepts Position as Communication Specialist
VALDOSTA - Kate Heine has accepted the position of
Communications Specialist at Valdosta State University. With a
solid background in writing, editing and photography for a diverse
blend of publications, she is prepared to promote the university
through compelling campus publications and to connect VSU
constituents to university happenings.
The University of Missouri-Columbia graduate brings the narrative
writing style she developed as a human-interest feature writer for
a statewide magazine in Missouri. A four-month internship at
Reuters news service in London, England fostered her thoughtful
reporting and ability to simplify complex issues. Heine spent the
past two years producing in-depth features, Internet video segments
and a semi-monthly column for the Waco Tribune-Herald in Waco,
Texas. Heine gained her dedication to detail as a city editor for
MIZZOU’s newspaper and as a local government reporter for the
Columbia Missourian in Columbia, Mo.
At VSU, she will work with internal departments to develop and
implement strategic internal communication outcomes as well as
support the preparation of reports, materials and presentations for
internal audiences as needed. She will serve as editor of the VSU
Connection, an internal newsletter, and editor of alumni
publications. In addition, she will assist with media relations and
other communication strategies as needed.
