The Campus Police Records Unit serves as archivist for all incident reports filed within the jurisdiction of the Campus Police department.  This includes all police, vehicle accident, and criminal activity reports, as well as State Uniform Traffic Citations.   The Records Supervisor, Ofc. Rebecca Leatherberry ensures that all criminal reports are entered into the Automated Records Management System. This information is used to generate statistics on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Information is also gathered so that other department personnel can evaluate crime trends on the university campus so special attention can be paid to these areas. Valdosta State University Police Department is responsible for compiling and maintaining statistics for compliance with the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 and the Jeanne Clery Act of 1998 along with his other duties. Any request for an incident/accident report should be made to the Records Clerk located at Campus Police Headquarters.  Requests may be submitted from  9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 on Friday.   Once a request has been submitted, the processing of reports takes approximately three business days. A daily log, which is a listing of all crimes reported to Campus Police, is available for public viewing.  Updates of the log are completed within two business days of the filing of an initial report except:

  • where disclosure of such information is prohibited by law
  • such disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim
  • release of such information would jeopardize any component of an ongoing criminal investigation.
